What is involved?
The powertrain is the drive train of a vehicle.
This includes all components that generate the vehicle's power for the drive and transfer it to the road. These include, for example, the engine, clutch, gearbox, flywheel, differential, drive shaft, drive axle(s) and wheels.
The string-like connection and arrangement of these components explains the name drivetrain.
As the combustion engine is becoming less and less of a focus in the automotive industry, work is currently underway to further develop environmentally friendly and economical drivetrains.nter Powertrain versteht man den Antriebsstrang eines Fahrzeugs.
RAPA Automotive in Powertrain
RAPA Automotive's portfolio includes various solutions for different components of the drivetrain. In the transmission sector, we offer valves and electromagnetic actuators. Our portfolio also includes shift valves for axle differentials and electromagnetic actuators for all aspects of the engine.
Decision for Powertrain Independence
After winning several follow-up projects for the powertrain products, the management decided in the mid-2010s to strategically restructure the product portfolio in order to achieve long-term independence from the combustion engine. In 2019, over 60% of RAPA's turnover was still dependent on components for combustion engines; by 2028, less than 2% of RAPA's turnover will be linked to the combustion engine.
As part of the restructuring of the product portfolio, market experience and hydraulics expertise were leveraged to focus on chassis products and, in particular, complete electrohydraulic solutions.

Powertrain Development since 2010
Several powertrain projects for different areas of application were launched in Selb in the 2010s. Today, RAPA Automotive has many years of market experience in valves and actuators for vehicle powertrains.

First Powertrain Inquiry
At the end of the 2000s, RAPA Automotive received inquiries from a Tier 1 system supplier for hydraulic powertrain valves.

First Hydraulic Projects
RAPA Automotive developed and produced the first hydraulic valves for convertible top control systems.
