Damper proportional valve external

The heart of a semi-active shock absorber

The proportional valve is a continuous throttle valve for external mounting on shock absorbers. It is flow-through on one side. The stepless valves are responsible for the precise control of the damping force and work as a hydraulic bypass. This enables the damper to provide damping force control according to the skyhook principle even in the high-frequency range of wheel vibrations. Accordingly, the damping forces are controlled individually for each wheel. This increases ride comfort for the occupants and stabilizes the body.

The proportional valve was developed in response to a customer request and has been in series production exclusively for thyssenkrupp Bilstein since 2020. The valves are used in premium vehicles from various manufacturers.

Building on the development knowledge gained, a next-generation modular damper valve is currently being developed.

What are the advantages of an external damper proportional valve from RAPA Automotive?

  • Optimized cost structure due to the modular design (= common part concept)
  • High variant flexibility thanks to modular valve system (e.g. NO / NC variant, different plugs, different pressure levels)
  • Maximization of comfort due to minimal pressure drop in the soft characteristic curve
  • High dynamics and excellent stability thanks to proportional valve technology
  • Many years of market experience in the field of hydraulic damper valves
  • Reliable quality thanks to 100% testing of the valves
