Our damper-internal proportional throttle valve is normally closed and is used in semi-active motorcycle suspension systems, for example. The proportional valve was developed on the basis of a customer request and has proven itself on the market since the start of production in 2013.
The hydraulic valve enables infinitely variable adjustment of the damping force in the rebound and compression stages, meaning that it can be flowed through on both sides. The suspension system adjusts the damping on the basis of sensor data (e.g. speed, acceleration, payload) and the selected driving mode. Depending on the current flow, the valve opens more or fewer flow holes, allowing very fine, infinitely variable adjustment of the damping force.
By installing the valve inside the damper tube, RAPA Automotive offers particularly compact packaging.
